Jeremy Balfour MSP took a visit to LOVE Gorgie Farm to meet the new owners and hear more about their plans to update the city attraction.
The much-loved city farm went into liquidation at the beginning on November 2019 after coming into financial difficulties and has recently been bought over by LOVE Learning, an education and social care charity.
The new owners have interesting plans to modernise and develop the farm through the introduction of alpacas; a new café; and a pet boarding service.
During the visit, CEO of LOVE Learning, Lynn Bell, assured Mr Balfour that more emphasis will be placed on fundraising by creating more obvious ways for visitors to donate. Ms Bell also spoke of their current need for short term help to make introducing these new features possible.
Commenting on the visit the Lothian MSP said:
“I am really impressed by both the professionalism and enthusiasm of the new owners of Gorgie Farm and I am excited to see the new projects and attractions that they are planning come to fruition.
“I know that people from all across the Lothians have treasured memories at the farm and were deeply upset at the thought of it closing. We should all be delighted LOVE Learning has bought over the farm and will continue to keep the community at the heart of what it does.
“However, they cannot achieve this on their own. Now is your chance to help get the place back up and running and give it a new lease of life. If you or your organisation are able to spare time or finances, please do get in touch with the staff at the farm who would be very grateful for any help offered.”
