Jeremy Balfour MSP has shown support for the Big Energy Saving Week 2020 campaign launched by Citizens Advice Scotland and Home Energy Scotland on Monday 20th January.
Big Energy Saving Week is a national campaign funded by the UK and Scottish governments which aims to help people save money on their energy bills by getting specialist advice from their local Citizens Advice Bureau.
In 2018-19, Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB) and the Extra Help Unit delivered £1.3 million in savings to people in Scotland who came to the network with energy-related issues. Resulting in an average saving of £232 per case.
Jeremy Balfour MSP for Lothian encourages constituents to make use of CAB’s resources and expertise:
“High energy bills are a serious issue for many households in Lothian. However, there are Citizens Advice Bureaus across Lothian which provide resources and expert advice, making reducing energy bills much easier.
“Often constituents can get overwhelmed by the prospect of having to reduce their energy usage but steps as simple as spending one minute less in the shower each day can save a family £75 a year.
“The people at CAB offer free, relaxed and non-judgemental advice. If you are worried about your energy bills or simply want to know more about how to save energy, visit your local bureau and have a chat with the friendly advisers.”
