On the back of Foster Care Fortnight, a campaign organised by leading foster care charity, The Fostering Network, Jeremy Balfour MSP has thanked foster carers across Lothian and vowed to continue to support foster carers and represent their voice within the Scottish Parliament.
The theme for this year’s Foster Care Fortnight was ‘This is Fostering’, celebrating the contribution of the people involved in fostering - from those caring for children every day to those championing children at a national level.
Across Scotland there are 4,730 children in foster care and approximately 3,800 foster families.
Scottish Conservative MSP, Jeremy Balfour, said:
“I want to take this opportunity to recognise the amazing foster families across Lothian who make a huge difference to the lives of the children and young people they love and care for.
“Whilst fostering is hugely rewarding, it can also be incredibly challenging, and I recognise that the current restrictions caused by the COVID-19 outbreak has created unique challenges of its own; so, thank you to foster carers for providing these children with love and stability in the midst of disruption.
“As an elected representative for Lothian, I will continue to champion foster care and help to raise awareness of the vital work of foster families across Lothian."
